NEW DAY/TIME!
Yoga for Stress Relief
Wednesdays, 5:30-6:45pm
$16 each class (or use your class card)

Attaining a sense of ease, one asana at a time! Is your stress running you? Now you can take back your life by learning how to truly feel at ease. Asana is a yoga pose or posture – one Sanskrit meaning is “comfortable seat” – that helps you reunite your mind with your body. Asana practice will focus your mind’s attention into your body, so you learn to move in more unified harmony. The result? No matter what stresses you face, you can remain “comfortably seated” and centered. In these classes, we will explore the ways to develop a genuine sense of ease within, using guided visualization, restorative yoga and asana practice. During each session, we will experience the bliss of conscious breathing, examine our inner vision and discover how to move our body in ways that generate the energy and awareness we need to restore ease and increase the happiness in our life. Suitable for the novice or intermediate yoga practitioner. Come for the yoga, leave feeling open and clear – with a smile on your face.

Karen Cappa has been a Bodyworker and Hypnotherapist for over 20 years. She is a group facilitator for Memorial Hospice and Final Passages Educational Foundation. She is an Ordained Priestess and Ceremonialist as well as an avid gardener and wild woman. Her passion for Yoga has been alive ever since she took her first yoga class in 1969. In 2011, she became a Certified Yoga Teacher by completing the Integrative Yoga Teacher Training at Bodyworks. She is now joyfully teaching yoga classes and private students.

Friday, March 23
7:00-9:30pm
$35 prepay by March 16th / $45 day of

The feet and legs are the roots from which our structure rises. Unlocking the feet and building strength in the legs through standing poses can reduce strain in the torso and access the core, promoting freedom of movement. A grounded and agile foundation cultivates a sense of inner trust and ability to meet the flow of life. This session will include standing, seated, and inverted poses.

Djuna Mascall’s primary inspiration comes from her ongoing work with Tias and Surya Little and her teaching is a reflection of their focus on mindfulness in asana, anatomy, and wisdom training. She is a Prajna senior teacher, has assisted Tias at numerous trainings, and teaches Prajna Yoga workshops nationally. She is one of four Prajna Yoga Senior Teachers featured on the Prajna website. Additional influence in teaching comes from in-depth study of Iyengar Yoga as well as in the Ashtanga system, her initial inspiration. One of the essential teachings of yoga is acceptance of the ever-changing nature of life. For Djuna, the sea is a great teacher of these lessons, which she experiences through sailing and kayaking. She and her husband sailed their 28’ engineless sailboat from Washington to Mexico, to Hawaii, and back to Washington. She also circumnavigated the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska, a 500-mile journey along open coast. She has published in Sea Kayaker Magazine and appeared in the film, Pacific Horizons, combining yoga and kayaking.

Low back pain is so prevalent in our culture. We will investigate how a weakened core, hamstring strain and imbalanced movement patterns lead to stress and misalignment in the lumbar region.
This 3-hour workshop offers cancer patients an opportunity to discover relaxation and peace of mind through gentle breathing and movement awareness. We will alternate periods of sharing in the group with instruction and practicing breathing exercises and slow movements designed to enhance flexibility, strength, reduce stress and increase your energy. No previous yoga experience necessary.

Jean Grant-Sutton is the Founder and Director of BodyWorks Integrative Yoga and Stress Management Center. She has been practicing and studying Yoga since 1980 and teaching since 1994. Jean’s teaching encompasses her extensive experience as a bodyworker (Certified Massage Therapist) and her passion for yoga.

Anne Brody was first introduced to yoga over 30 years ago at the Sivananda Yoga Center in San Francisco. She became passionate about studying and practicing yoga for the next 10 years. Later, her home practice tapered off while she raised 2 children and went to work full-time. In 2002, Anne was diagnosed with leukemia. Her journey through treatment and survival of this cancer brought her back to yoga, as it once again became a major focus in her life. Yoga not only rebuilt her physical strength but also opened the door to emotional and spiritual healing. The yogic path led her to Bodyworks and the yoga teacher training program, where she received her IYT teacher certificate in November, 2008. Anne teaches weekly classes at BodyWorks and frequently subs for other teachers at the studio. As well as her teachers at BodyWorks yoga, Anne is a regular student of Janice Gates and Anne O’Brien. Her interest in learning more about the “inner world” led her to Spirit Rock where she now is a regular attendee of meditation workshops with a variety of teachers. Anne has also been a practitioner of yang-style Tai Chi for the past 15 years. She brings her love of yoga, tai chi, meditation, poetry and music into her mixed-level teaching style with gentleness and compassion.

InterPlay® is multicultural, intergenerational, gender-empowering and interfaith.

We play with our own unique ethnicity, spirituality, geography, learning styles, sexuality, economics, gifts and challenges.

We dance with those who are different – side by side, one at a time, walking, stopping and running – and we sing, babble, shout and tell our stories to applauding witnesses. This is how we are changing the world.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. To reserve your space, call Mary at InterPlay Sonoma (707)658-2486. www.interplay.org.

Mary Sobrina Kuder is a Visual Artist, InterPlay® Teacher, InterPlay® Life Practice Leader, and Improvisational Performance Artist. She brings a lifetime of art, healing practices and 15 years as a Certified InterPlay Leader to inspire individuals and build community. The integrity and dedication of her own artistic life and InterPlay practice are the strengths of her teaching and leading. Her gatherings – whether an afternoon or a retreat – are spirit-filled, passionate, creative and sensitive.
