<p><strong>Barbara Juniper</strong> is a singer/songwriter/sound healer who currently resides in Marin County. She graduated from the CIIS Sound, Voice and Music Healing program and has appeared in multiple venues with a variety of musicians throughout the SF Bay Area. She performs with Deep 6, a group of local singer/songwriters. In addition to performing, Barbara uses singing and other sound healing modalities to support growth and transformation in both clinical and community settings. Listeners often feel Barbara’s heart connection with her music.</p>
<p><strong>Deb Reid</strong> guides Yoga, Laughter Yoga and Meditation classes in Sonoma County in clinical and general public settings. She’s known for bringing a lightheartedness to her classes as well as an applied background in anatomy and physiology from her years as a massage therapist and yoga instructor.  By participating throughout the year in both yoga and meditation courses, Deb continually stretches her edge and depth of knowledge, engaging her students with fresh perspectives. She&#8217;s a certified Meditation and Yoga Alliance Teacher.</p>

<p>This 12-week series will offer cancer patients an opportunity to discover relaxation and peace of mind through gentle breathing and movement awareness. Classes will alternate sharing in the group with instruction and practice of breathing exercises and slow movements designed to enhance flexibility, strength, reduce stress and increase energy. No previous yoga experience necessary.  Suitable for people with cancer, in whatever stage of diagnosis, treatment or recovery.</p>
<p><strong>Anne Brody</strong> was introduced to yoga over 30 years ago at the Sivananda Yoga Center in San Francisco. She became passionate about studying and practicing yoga. Although her practice tapered off while raising children and working full-time, yoga once again became a major focus in her life after enduring treatment for leukemia. Yoga rebuilt her physical strength and opened the door to emotional and spiritual healing. Anne received her IYT teacher certificate in 2008.  Anne has taught regular classes at Bodyworks and other venues.</p>

<p>The word YOGA means to unite, to bring together and it also means to still and calm the fluctuations in consciousness. In this workshop, students get the opportunity to immerse in their personal body/mind/breath awareness to experience/explore how this trinity works together.</p>
<p>The body opens through a well-composed asana sequence; students explore the effects of the breath, inhalation, the pause and exhalation, with movement and in stillness and realize during this journey how the mind becomes quiet and serene.</p>
<p>In the Iyengar tradition, emphasis is on proper alignment, timing and sequencing; use of props, the therapeutic aspects and the yoga Sutras by Sri Patanjali.</p>
<p><strong>Birgit Reimer</strong> teaches yoga in the lineage of her teachers, the Iyengar family and Ben Thomas. She is known for her compassion and care for the students. Her well-composed workshops/classes are a refined composition of asanas, pranayama and meditation infused with philosophical thoughts. <p>Katy Redmon’s passion is to assist people in changing their thinking, so they can change their lives.  She guides people to re-script their lives in order to be free from the past. She is a Certified Hypnotherapist and works in her private practice in Petaluma, CA doing Clinical Medical Hypnosis and Transpersonal Hypnotherapy using proprietary methods.  She is a certified teacher of the 15th Step process.</p>
<p>Trained as an educator, she has taught elementary school, high school, and Adult English as a Second Language. She received her Bachelors Degree in Theater from the University of San Francisco, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Francisco State University, a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English from Sonoma State University, her Transpersonal Hypnotherapist certification from the Institute of Thought, San Diego, CA and her training from the Better Life Center in Berkeley, CA. She is IOT certified to teach the 15th Step process. Katy is a member of NGH – National Guild of Hypnotists, IARRT – the International Association of Regression Research and Therapies, WHI &#8211; World Healer Institute, IOT – the Institute of Thought and CATESOL – CA Teachers of English. She is a graduate of Vicki Noble’s Motherpeace School of Female Shamanism, Berkeley, CA.</p>

<p>In this workshop, you will be introduced to techniques that will help you experience a deeper state of mental, physical and emotional awareness. Using movement exercises from Trager®, yoga, aikido, dance, qigong and related disciplines, you will learn to increase the energy flow in your body, and move with a feeling of greater freedom and ease. Easy breathing exercises and self-massage will help the functioning of your internal organs and immune systems. As we become more deeply in touch, we will obtain greater awareness of how we move habitually, and how we can replace less effective habits with ones that both feel better and prevent wear and tear on muscles, joints, ligaments, and tendons.</p>
<p><strong>Mark Bauman</strong> has been a bodywork practitioner since 1976, and an educator since 1984. He first studied shiatsu, then went to massage school where he was introduced to the pioneering work of Dr. Milton Trager. Mark became a Trager Practitioner in 1980, and has been leading workshops since Dr. Trager appointed him to do so in 1984. (See www.tragerus.org for articles and info on Trager work.) Mark grew up expecting to become either a lawyer or an English teacher, but severe illness in teenage years set him eventually on a healing path. The other major approach Mark includes in his work is Chi Nei Tsang meaning &#8220;internal organs chi massage&#8221;, a work said to have originated in the Shaolin Temple two millennia ago and developed by monks to maintain their health and energy during their rigorous practices. In addition to these bodywork trainings, Mark has extensive background in aikido, dance, sports, and other bodywork &amp; movement practices.</p>

<p>Every body is aging! You can choose to age to be old or age to be fit. This workshop is for you if there’s some part of you from head to toe that you want to be more agile, flexible or fluid. Learn new ways of moving to increase your agility and get the bonus of improved balance, posture and coordination and reduced pain. You can move better, improve your yoga asanas, breathe easier and feel younger through this Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® workshop.</p>
<p>Attend a single workshop for a tune-up, or attend the series to create agility throughout yourself, and receive $25 off an individual Feldenkrais lesson with Margot.</p>
<p><strong>Margot Schaal</strong> is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, has a Bachelor in Fine Arts, is a Reiki Master and a Qigong teacher. Margot has practiced Feldenkrais® in the US and Rwanda, teaching children, adults, elders, athletes, musicians, artists, office workers and trades people, as well as the physically and mentally disabled. Her clients have learned to retrain their movements to address stroke, accidents, chronic pain, and to increase flexibility, balance and physical performance. Margot offers weekly classes, workshops and private instruction tailored to the individual at her offices in Petaluma and San Rafael. <p>Journey within and remember your divinity in an embracing and healing women’s circle. The circle is a fundamental form for expression and community, one that helps develop insight, wisdom, and compassion. This sacred space will use elements of movement, music and dance, imagery and writing, sharing and active listening.</p>
<p><strong>Gaila Newburg</strong>’s education has been both traditional and experiential. Of note is her background as a teaching nurse and actor, with a long involvement with women&#8217;s groups. Expressive movement and writing are her passions. She has always been drawn to finding opportunities to be of assistance to others, and helping to build and support local and global community. Along with facilitating grief support groups, Gaila continues to learn and is continually inspired by her mentor, Jalaja Bonheim, founder of the Institute for Circlework (www.instituteforcirclework.org).</p>

<p>Restorative Yoga focuses on relaxing the body in restful, supported postures. Note that &#8216;rest&#8217; is different than sleep. Rest provides the body an opportunity to renew and heal. We know that stress can make us sick. In this workshop, we&#8217;ll discuss the causes of stress and how the body reacts to stress. Then we&#8217;ll practice supported yoga poses that allow the body to &#8220;rest deeply&#8221;, bringing the body back into equilibrium and giving it the opportunity to heal itself. This will be one of the most important practices of yoga you&#8217;ll experience. Give yourself this unique opportunity. Your body and mind will thank you.</p>
<p><strong>Cheryl Thomas</strong> is 500-hour registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, with 300 of those hours in Yoga Therapy. Her advanced training with Judith Lasater and Roger Cole in the art of Restorative Yoga allows Cheryl to offer her students an opportunity to completely relax and rejuvenate while being supported with bolsters and blankets. She recently assisted UCSF Women Research Center on a NIH funded study of Restorative Yoga and Metabolic Syndrome. In addition to Restorative Yoga, Cheryl teaches a well-rounded vinyasa flow class which focuses on building strength, exploring flexibility and challenging balance.
