“Thank you, BodyWorks, for your constant encouragement to listen to one’s inner voice, however faint. I’m understanding better these days that I’m not here to please you or to attain a goal of perfection. I’m learning to accept that where we are right now is where I need to be. On one particularly confusing day recently I said to my friend ‘in the imperfection of today lies the perfection of reality.’ I heard that in class and it has stuck with me!” –Joanne del Corral
“Two weekends ago, I trimmed a 20-ft. long, 12-ft. high, 5-ft. deep hedge with the aid of an electric hedge trimmer, 100-ft. extension cord, and 8-ft. and 10-ft. ladders. (I’m 5 feet tall.) I was extremely sore afterwards but know that 5 years ago I couldn’t have done it at all. The core strength and balance we keep working on in class enabled me to accomplish this studly task. So although I notice my flexibility diminishing (I’ve been ‘double-jointed’ my entire life & found yoga really easy because of it), I’m finding my strength increasing. At 62, this is a wonderful discovery!” –Zahira Rabinowitz
“I wanted to do Yoga because I am tight in my legs, hips and shoulders and wanted to be more limber. It was also something that my wife and I could do together. I have been practicing the martial Art of Aikido for almost 40 years. Because of this, I am in touch with my body and know how to breathe and relax. What I discovered is that Yoga and Aikido have a lot in common. For example, the words used in the very first classes to describe how to do seated Yoga Breathing are almost exactly the same words that I use to describe breathing methods to my Aikido students. Amazing!!” –Don Stratton
“Yoga has taught me to appreciate stretching and the proper ways to stretch. Stretching is a lot more than just touching my toes. Yoga has helped me discover new things about my body. I look forward to the classes on Tuesdays and am always energized and relaxed afterwards.” –Judy Stratton
